Vitamins for Hair Growth

Vitamins are an essential part of a hair growth and maintenance regime and should not be overlooked. Especially in people whose dietary intake of vitamins might be lacking, supplementation can offer even greater benefits than specialised shampoos and conditioners.

Hair follicles are living cells, and as such rely on vitamins for their optimal function. Even though the hair strands are not alive, the cell that produces them is! Particular vitamins to be looked out for are niacin, biotin, iron and choline. All four of these are recognised as essential for optimal follicle health and functionality.

A good balance of amino acids is also important as hair is made of protein, from which amino acids are derived. So if your diet is lacking in protein, an amino acid supplement is a good idea to give your hair follicles the nutrients it needs to produce the hair strands.

There are numerous hair-growth promoting vitamin formulations available on the market. As always, do your research before you decide which one to go for. Alternatively you can formulate your own using the different vitamin products available from most health-food stores.

If your diet is balanced, you may not need to take a vitamin supplement, however if you eat a specialised diet (such as vegetarian) you are likely to be deficient in one or more essential vitamins. So look for a comprehensively formulated supplement which can provide back the vitamins that are missing from your diet and maximise your hair growth potential.

Vitamins can literally turn your health around, not just in terms of hair regrowth but with your entire body. You will notice health changes of the positive kind after you are taking regular vitamin supplements. This is a nice by product of using vitamins for hair growth!
